Historical Recipes
All recipes below are ones that were passed down to me from my mother. They are a combination of her recipes, as well as her mother's recipes, and ones from her maternal grandmother (a German immigrant). They are organized only by the cookbooks, notebooks, or leafs or paper that they were originally a part of â not by ingredient type or dish. All recipes are ones that are in the process of being digitized, first through transcription, and later through scanning. Many of the recipes were written along with letters, and those letters or notes are included in the recipe cards themselves. They may also include family or location names where the recipes originated â those names are also included to maintain historical accuracy.

âThe Best in Cookingâ in Silver Creek by the Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. This book featured recipes by many ladies of the Zion Lutheran Church, but I have only featured recipes below from my maternal grandmother, Doris Rohl.
